there’s more to life than money

There’s more to life than money….

Imagine what the world would be like if people spent money according to the values they claimed to stand for. There’s more to life than money.  I see people complain about how Wal-Mart treats their employees, and then do their shopping there.  I see them complain about outsourcing jobs, and then buy from the business that outsource.  The list goes on.  It’s a no brainer that words don’t change the world nearly as quickly as dollars.  Your dollar is your most direct vote in how the world is shaped.  We as human beings concerned for the future honestly don’t have the luxury of sacrificing values to save a dollar.

there’s more to life than moneyThe same can be said for how we invest.  I’m not here to say what your values should be. But I will say that if you don’t believe in smoking, don’t own a cigarette company.  If you don’t agree with how banks are running, don’t buy them.  If you don’t think an investment affects the world in some positive way, do not support it with your money.

The Wall Street Monster….

You may not think you own any of these investments, but how many of you have a pension, a 401(K), or just own some diversified mutual funds?  Do you know what stocks are held in these investments?  We all complain about Wall Street.  Yet we don’t even realize that their power to shape the economy and our political system is derived from the massive amounts of wealth we turn over to them.  Pension funds and mutual funds buy massive amounts of companies, including many that you may not even agree with.  And they generate a profit in the process.  That’s one of the reasons I coach investors to start directing their own investment decisions.

I challenge you….

Most of the time I’m preaching about how much more profitable it can be to learn to invest for yourself.  But I also coach people because I believe that this world will become a much better place when the working class starts to regain awareness of where the money is really going, and what it’s being used for.

I challenge every person reading this to consider how they can make a difference both in their own financial future and how they affect the rest or society.  There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to make money doing something you actually believe in.

If you’re not sure where to begin, we’re always here to help.
